------------------------THURSDAY--------
----------------------------------------
As usual, our Otakon adventure began on Thursday. The first thing I did when I woke up Thursday was shouting "WE'RE LEAVING FOR OTAKON TODAY!!!" which was followed by me dancing in my bed for a few minutes
I spent most of the beginning of my Thursday just checking and double checking what I packed to make sure I didnt forget anything (But I managed to forget a toothbrush, a blanket, and a pillow.. but we were fine)
At first our day was quite the hectic because right as we were about to leave we realized we should probably be printing out the papers that the otakon peoples sent us in our emails to confirm that we pre-registered just in case. This is when we found out that Brett never actually got pre-registered. We all exploded and hoped that was wrong but it wasn't
There wasn't much that we could do about this so we just packed everything in the cars and left towards Grilli's house.
Once again we grabbed the Grilli and THREW HIM IN THE CAR and left for Baltimore! EXCITEMENT!
Not A LOT happened on the way there but some stuff kinda did, one of the things that isn't really worth mentioning is how Grilli, Kevin, and I all played Pokemon on our DS's on the way there. I got a Tyranatar :O! hahaha
When we got closer to Baltimore we started to see people in other cars that we were sure had to be on their way to Otakon. Grilli took out a piece of paper from his bag and wrote "OTAKON?" on it. We also ended up getting him to write "YOU'RE HOT!" on the other side
As we passed this car of 4 girls I put the "Otakon?" half of the sign to the window and they all nodded and gave us thumbs up. After this I flipped the sign to the "YOU'RE HOT!" side and they all started laughing.
We lol'd
When we got to Baltimore we drove around for a while looking for the hotel so we were doing random things to pass the time at the stop lights. At one of the lights we saw a cute girl on the other side of the road but a bus parked next to us and blocked her so we couldnt see anymore. Brett grabbed a penny and pegged it out the window at the bus for being a jerk. Stupid jerk bus.
It took us a bit but we finally found our hotel and parked in the garage right next to it. But instead of going to the hotel first we left to get our badges. All of us got through the line pretty quick but Brett had to go stand in a line that actually required waiting since he didn't pre-register. Ah well, it was fine just because he was still able to get his badge on Thursday
While waiting for Brett, Grilli Kevin and I all went to the bathroom. While walking in I sang the "THREEEE STRAIGHTTT GUYYYYS GOING INTO A BATHROOOOOM TOOOGEEEETHERRRRRR" song and on the way out I sang the "THREEEE STRAIGHTTT GUYYYYS COMINGGG OUTTTT OFFFF A BATHROOOOOM TOOOGEEEETHERRRRRR" song. The security guard lady was laughing and said something like "wow you must be excited"
"SURE AM~!" I replied
"Well I am too"
"GREAT! We're excited together!"
"YEAH!"
We prooooceded to wait out front of the convention center because the people working there didn't want us waiting because we were in the way of people?
While waiting I decided to call Nicolette to see if she was there yet and found out she was inside, I wouldve went to talk to her but there were annoying peoples blocking the doorways. Soon I realized I didn't mind because I saw a REALLY cute girl (haha i'm horrible) she was with her friends selling sodas in front of the convention center. I named her soda girl. I wish I had brought some money with me just for a dumb excuse to walk up to her, but sadly I didn't so I could only dreeeeam
ANYWAY BACK TO OTAKON
Grilli told me that he saw Nicolette so I searched frantically in the crowd to see if I could see her, didn't really need to look though since she just walked over in our direction. She was with Christy, Mandy grrl, and Ineverheardhernamegirl.
So we talked to them for a bittles and they ran off to do girl stuff.
After standing around for a while I saw my friend Cameron who I talked to through the Otakon group on myspace and met him last year.
We talked for a bit and found out that he was going with his friends to see if the Days Inn had any spots where people cancelled. The hotel he ended up in was trashy, had cigerette burns on the walls, smelled, and was just bad. So we wished the boy good luck and sent him off on his journey. They grow up so quick ;_;
Brett, Steve, and Jill eventually got out of the registration line and joined us. We decided to go to the California Tortilla because mexican food is always a good choice! Nothing very exciting happened here other than when Grilli and I turned to the tv and all we saw was 2 dogs attacking eachother. We looked at eachother and started cracking up. For some reason it was really funny just because it was so random.
After foodles we worked our way back to the hotel just to bring our stuff in and sit around for a little bit to get a break. But hey, who wants to be sitting around in a hotel when Otakon is the next day?! NOBODY!
Brett, Kevin, Grilli, and I all left the hotel and went back towards the front of the convention center to see what kind of fun people were hanging out there.
First we made our way to the outdoor waterfall fountain thingurr
There was some awkward statue thing standing in front of it that was never there before (I think they put up new stuff every year?) So we all got pictures with it.

Brett decided to get a stink head again and dipped his head into the fountain's water. Yum!!!!! :O!:!O!:!OL!O!:OOO!!!
There were a bunch of interesting peoples sitting in front of the convention center. First of all there was a Tobi cosplayer so I rushed up to him and got his picture, then I said "I know you're not Obito, Tobi! You're your own character and I'm proud of you for that"
He was like "THANK YOU! Everyone keeps saying I'm Obito. It was getting on my nerves, but you made me happy by saying I'm not!"
He was with a Naruto so I turned to the Naruto and said "Believe it? :(" and he just kinda glared at me but then ended up laughing after I glared back.
We ran into Cameron again and found out that someone did end up cancelling at the Days in so he was able to get out of his uber crappy hotel and into a normal one! Yay him!
When we were walking we talked to some people that were sitting up at the top of the wall near us. We told them they should slide down the wall (its sloped) and hang out with us but they didn’t. The one guy was starting to creep us out so we decided we’d leave them. But first we named him Ron. Good name for him.
Kevin threw a piece of paper on the ground and we all pointed at it
Some people were walking by and one guy from the group stopped and pointed with us, his group was yelling at him and telling him to follow but he just shouted back "I DONT KNOW WHAT IM DOING HERE BUT THESE GUYS ARE MORE FUN THAN YOU!!!" He ended up leaving though. The punk.
Someone picked up the piece of paper so we pointed at him. He walked away with it so we followed him pointing. He dropped it on the ground so we stood there and pointed at it again. This was when our least favorite people showed up. These 2 really scary girls. One was walking around playing crappy music and one was just being yucky. The annoying music girl picked up the paper and walked around the front of the convention center over and over but we followed her over and over anyway. She then turned it into a paper airplane and tossed it so we rushed after it.
Nasty girl picked up the paper next and turned to annoying girl. She asked her a question like "which one looks the most vulnerable"
Annoying girl pointed at Kevin so Nasty girl smiled and rushed at Kevin, trying to shove the paper down the front of his pants
Kevin moved back really quick and I smacked the paper out of Nasty girl's hand and shouted something smart along the lines of "EW!!!! YUCK!!!! NASTY!!!!! BAD!!!! NO!!!!!"
We decided this would be a good time to go back to the hotel
(OH YEAH! Our hotel room was awesome! It had a living room, a bedroom, a bathroom, and a kitchen. It was a lot bigger than we thought it was going to be @_@)
Not much happened when we got back. We just watched TV, played DS, and we were awake till almost 3 AM. LIKE WHOAZ. Then we all shut our geeky eyes and went to sleep so we could go to Otakon the next day (OTAKON DIDNT EVEN START YET!!!!)
----------------------------------------
--------------------------FRIDAY--------
----------------------------------------
Friday morning started out with Brett and me feeling sickly
I won't give many details about THAT but all I will say is that it made us go to Otakon about an hour later than we expected to, but it was fine because we still got there around 9:00ish
That morning I realized I forgot to pack my toothbrush and I couldn't get anyone to lend me theirs. Sure it sounds YUCKY but I wanted to brush em ;_;
Kevin, Grilli, and I all walked to the Seven Eleven to see if they had toothbrushes by any chance but they didnt so I just got gum that smelled nifty.
I ended up putting toothpaste on my finger and rubbing my teeth with it. YUM!
(We did end up getting me a toothbrush by the end of the day so I was fine.)
So we all walked to the convention center and there in front of us was the glory of OTAKON 2007!!!!
The first thing that I did was whipped out my camera because taking pictures is one of the ways I have the most fun at Otakon, and I rushed in and began taking pictures of cosplayers immediately.
After doing that for a bittle I walked with the kids and pointed out random stuff to Kevin since it was his first Otakon and he NEEDED to know RANDOM STUFF.
Pretty much right when we got up the stairs we ran into Nicolette, Christy, Mandy and ... THE OTHER ONE ;.; We thought this was super special awesome cool so we stole Nicolette and Christy from them and left THEM to rot. Or to do whatever it was they were doing @___@. Before we left them I had to confess to Mandy my deep love for her that I had already developed! How quickly I fell for that girl! (See what you missed out on Baoyen?)... haha. :(
I think at this point the group was me, brett, kevin, grilli, nicolette, and christy (LIKE WHOA) And when we started walking I saw Lulu for the first time! She was like... the cutest Lulu cosplayer evurr ;_; and possibly one of the cutest girls there .
(yeah yeah im always talking about girls and cute girls and whatnot DEAL WITH IT. I'm Josh. That's how I roll. :| lolz)
OH YEAH! Christy had this AWESOME fake lip ringy thingy that connected to her earring. I kept asking if I could take it out her lip and put it on mine so my lip would be connected to her ear but she just hit me every time I asked. That girl abuses me.
We also saw the cosplayer guy from last year that wears some sorta sentai uniform and stands in the same place all day every day. He's a little scary but it's awesome that he was there again. I walked over to him and gave him a weird look until he said "What?" then I said "Give me a hug"
He seemed a little scared and said something like "A friendly hug or a.... I'm not even gonna bother with the other kind" and he just kept standing there so I just said "FINE! If you're gonna be difficult I wont bother!" and I walked away. Yeah. That's what you get. You take too long to get a hug from me and you get no hug at all! TRAGEDY.
No Otakon would be complete without taking pictures of people who arent even cosplaying so by this point we had already taken pictures of people who were just working there or jumped in front of random people walking down the hall and took pictures of them too. It's great to ask people that arent cosplaying for pictures because they look at you like you're insane but they never say no.
We went to the Dealer's room to see if it was open yet but it wasn't opening for another hour or two. There was already a big line of people waiting to get in. But there really isn't a point to waiting. It's not like you can't get in once it opens. No matter how many people go in they dont stop you so being in line reeeeally doesnt matter o_o
Since we couldn’t get in yet we walked back towards the entrance to see what cosplayers had come in at this point. While we were walking there we ran into Greg, Dane, Joe, Joe, Danegrrlfrnd, Danegrrlfrndsfrnd, and laptop kid! I forget if any of them joined our group but we kept on walking after talking to them for a little. As we were walking I saw this guy from a forum I used to go on named Hecxz so I talked to him for a little and got his picture, he told me that some other people from the forum were meeting up on Saturday so I figured I might as well stop by and take pictures of them too when the time came.
Some of the more interesting cosplayers we saw up to this point were:
-Hard Gai, a mix of Hard Gay and Gai from Naruto. Also he was Ron from the night before
- 2 really evil villains. Kakuzu and Tigger. AWESOME.
- A Tonberry that needed a girl to help her walk since she could barely see through the mask
annnd - an awesome Totoro that was super hug-able ;-;
Also, there was no Pimp Gaara this year from what I saw but there WAS a pimp Urahara. He was pretty awesome
At this point the group I was with became just Grilli and me
Steve and Jill had already disappeared to watch something and Brett and Kevin left to go watch something else. Nicolette and Christy were TRAITORS and left with their other friends (:P)
But Grilli and I didn’t go to any panels or anything because HECK we like to wander
WE LOVE TO WANDER
I LOVE WANDERINGGGGGGGGG
And since nothing we really wanted to go to was open yet we just walked around to see cosplayers and talk to random people
At the top level was a group of D Gray Man cosplayers and they were the first DGM cosplayers I saw so I got really excited, rushed over to them, and asked if I could get all of them in a picture. Two of them stood up from the bench but one who was half joking half lazy was like “DO I HAAAAAAAAVE TO GET UP?!” and the one next to her stayed sitting too
I was like “Of course you have to stand up! … -____- …. FIIIIIINE SIT DOWN. ALL OF YOU” They lol’d and all sat together and I got a picture. Lazy punks!
Around the corner there was some guy cosplaying as Angemon (I think?) from digimon and he was all disappointed because one of his wings fell off.
The best I had to say for him was “Good luck with that.” Snapped a picture. And walked off.
When we got back downstairs we saw someone who looked very familiar and upon closer inspection her identity was shown! It was the girl who cosplayed as Naruto last year and we got her to give Brett 1000 Years of Pain. I rushed up to her and said “HEY! Thanks for giving my brother 1000 years of pain last year!” she looked confused at first but then she was like “Ohhh yeah! Hey! No problem!” and laughed. I got a picture of her and her friend because theyre crazy awesome cool.
I saw someone cosplaying as Hayate from Naruto so I got a picture of him. His friend was like “Geez! Everyone gets your picture. I don’t think anyone has really noticed me.” I don’t think he expected me to hear that but I turned to him and looked at him and after looking for a little I realized he was cosplaying as Ikkaku from Bleach. It didn’t grab my attention at first because he wasn’t wearing the shinigami robe, instead he was wearing the awesome shirt that he had to wear on Earth. So even though I didn’t notice him at first he was a pretty awesome cosplayer haha
I also the guy who was pointing with us the first year again. I think his name is Chris. I talked to him for a little and told him we were planning to start the pointing circle again and he seemed pretty happy about it.
We ran into Nicolette, Christy, WAHHHIDONTKNOWYOURNAME, Mandy, and SOME GUY. We talked to them for a little. I decided the guy’s name was Ron too. I said things. Ron hates me. I lol’d. Ron wanted to kill me and stuff. I was only joking~ TEEHEE and that’s my version of all of that.
And since it was pretttttty uncomfortable with Ron being there we left those kids on their own.
While walking away we noticed these cool Yuffie and Ash cosplayers so we went to get their pictures. But they were awesomely awesome because after we got their pictures they wanted a picture of us. We were just like “ O_O SURE~!”
We also saw this guy that we met last year while we were taking pictures of Nana Kitade. We ran up to talk to him but he was a little confused at first. But after we explained he was like “HEYYYY now I remember!”
Lalala more wandering.. UP THE ESCALATOR WE WENT! On the way up we saw KIDEATINGDORITOSFROMTHEDEALERSROOMLASTYE
I ran up to this Deidara cosplayer and I said something to her about what her character did in chapter 362 (I wont say what for the sake of not spoiling big stuff!) and I was like “WHYD YOU DO IT?!” She was just like “I don’t know why Deidara did it either! ITS NOT COOL! CAN I HAVE A HUG?!” “SURE!” Then I gave a quick hug and wander wandered.
This was about when wandering died because we got a call from Brett saying they were going to lunch. So we wooshed off and went to meet up with them. Along the way Grilli pointed out this guy that was wearing the same shirt as me. I ran over to him and said “Nice shirt!!!!” Then I saw he had the same badge as me so I said “NICE BADGE!!!!” Then I glared at him and wondered if he was cosplaying as me or if he was just my clone. I quickly got a picture with clonecosplayer dude and then we went back to meeting up with the other kids.
When we found Brett he was playing hackey-sack (or however you spell it) with (ugh I forget so lets see how good I can do) KEVIN, GREG, and JOE! I THINK. So we stood there and waited with those kids since they were waiting for Steve and Jill. During the time we spent waiting I saw some random girl wearing awesome clothes so I stopped her for a picture, also Grilli pointed out that the awesome Lulu was walking by so I shouted “LULUUUUU!!!! I LOVE YOUUUUU!!!!!” She just laughed and kept walking.
Steve and Jiiiiiill eventually met up with us and we went to the food court. It was awesome for me because all of a sudden I was feeling sick again! AWESOME! GREAT! SWELL! While everyone waited in line for their yummy subway sandwiches I waited in line for my cookie and drink ;_; I wasn’t up for eating a whole sammich. Stupid tummy. Our table was amusing while we ate. Grilli tried to see if he could fit his subway bag over his head. So did Steve. And then Kevin. After sitting for a while and laughing at those kids being dumb-butts I finally started feeling better and I was ready to get back to Otakoning.

NOW IT WAS TIME. We had waiting long enough! It was time to see if the dealer’s room had opened! We all went together and when we got there.. IT WAS OPEN! Fireworks shot off and children sang songs of HAPPY TUNES. We must have spent a pretty good while down there because I don’t remember much of what happened that afternoon other than looking around in there and taking pictures of cosplayers that were in there.
Oh! But I was SUPER EXCITED! Because while we were down there I saw my two favorite cosplayers! Kakashi and Sexy-no-jutsu Kakashi! I rushed over to them and took a picture right away. Then I told them how much I love their cosplay and how theyre THE BEST EVER. Kakashi lol’d and Fe-Kakashi was like “awww”. Then I asked if I could have a hug, Kakashi gave me a super manly hug first (haha) and then Fe-Kakashi hugged me ~^.^~ … I was so happy~ hahaha
After a lot of Dealer’s Rooming, Grilli and I decided that our legs needed a break. We went up to the awesome hallway that we always take breaks in and sat there. When we were walking there we ran into Cardcaptor Will (who wasn’t in costume but I recognized him) so I shouted out his name and got a picture of him because that man is totally r0xXoRed out.
In the awesome hallway we were happy because there was an Adventure Time cosplayer. When we saw her I shouted “MATHEMATICAL!!!” She looked really excited and she was like “RHOMBUS!!!!! You’re the second people that knew what I was from!” So we all obsessed together over how awesome Adventure Time is and we let her go.. good luck out there awesome Adventure Time cosplayer. We shall miss you ;_;
When we sat down Grilli decided it would be super-awesome to make a sign so he took out a piece of cardboard and wrote “SHOUT OUT YOUR FAVORITE POKEMON!” on it.
We had soooo much fun with that sign. Almost everyone that walked by and saw the sign laughed because they knew it was awesome too!!! YEAH! At first barely anyone was saying anything so I started trying to get people’s attention by yelling at them “HEY! LOOK AT THE SIGN! WHATS YOUR FAVORITE POKEMON!?” It was funny how so many people would just stop and stare at the sign and be like “I can’t remember… let me think” and theyd stand there for a couple of minutes and shout something out and then run off. A lot of people were shouting “MUDKIPS!” But that’s not cool. Because that’s not original. Stupid memes. Nobody really likes stupid Mudkip.
I also made my own sign that got a few lol’s. Actually it was 2 signs. One said “You’re” and the other said “Hot!” Any time a girl would answer something other than Mudkip I’d hold those up. Some of the reactions were great. Like the girl that laughed and her boyfriend flipped me off. Good times~
While Grilli held up that sign this girl ran over to say how awesome the sign was. I was about to say how awesome she… HEY WAIT A SECOND! SHE WAS THE CUTE GIRL THAT POINTED WITH US THE FIRST YEAR! I asked her if she remembered being in the pointing circle, it took her a couple seconds but she was like “HEY! Yeah I remember you! That was awesome!” Then she went back to her side of the hallway and shouted out pokemon names to help promote our sign.
I saw this girl cosplaying as Nemu from Bleach so I jumped up and asked her for a picture. She was ready for me to take the picture but right as I turned my camera on it was like “Sorry! I’m a piece of crap! I run out of batteries every 3 minutes!” I sighed and said “SIGH” and “My camera ran out of batteries…” Before I could say anything else she got all excited and picked up her bag “I HAVE BATTERIES!” I stood there amazed at how fast she was with that. So she gave me new batteries (that actually lasted the rest of the day… that girl was magical) and I got a picture of her. Then we talked for a little. I forget what we were talking about but all I remember is she was super uber cool and I probably would have asked her to marry me if I didn’t not ask her to marry me.
Soon Brett joined us in the hallway and sat with us for a while until all of our legs had full HP again. Then we got up and went back to wandering. Brett went back to the Dealer’s Room with Kevin. Grilli and I followed Steve and Jill to the game room to see all the games they had this year. It was pretty nifty as usual to see all the stuff they had.
After video game rooming, wandering, cosplay take-picture-ing, and whatnot I decided it was time to go to the Artist’s Alley. I was really excited for the Artist’s Alley this year since a bunch of people I watch on deviantart were going to be there. Almost as soon as we got there I saw one of the people I wanted to see the most, Christy Lijewski. She has aaaawesome art and she has even made some comics such as Re:Play, and Next Exit. I went to her table and waited for the chattery girls in front of me to stop being chattery so I could see her (haha). She was really nice in person and it was awesome to meet her. I bought Next Exit volume 1 since I had never seen it in any stores and I bought her mini-comic, Polaroid. She also signed volume 1 of Re:Play, I brought it for her to sign since it was the first comic of hers that I actually owned. And thennnn I got a picture of her.
She was so cool ;_; and I’m really glad I saw her then because the couple other times we went to the Artist’s Alley she wasn’t at her table.
I also got to meet “Teh Ryu” from deviantart. She was also really nice in person. I bought one of her awesome prints and she signed it. Then she asked me to sign her book and to maybe even draw something in it. So I signed it and drew a crappy Whale Mode. I was sad because usually Whale Mode comes out looking awesome but I wasn’t used to her expensive marker-y thingy and I didn’t want to kill it so I was being uber careful @_@ Thennnn I got a picture with her since she’s uber awesome!
(I looked like butt in the picture so I did an awesome editing job on it)
After being awesome for a bit more at Otakon I decided that I wanted to take my prints back to the hotel so they wouldn’t get pwned by accident. So we all got together and went to the hotel to put stuff there and take a quick break.
After the quick break we took pictures of cosplayers s’more and then sat and watched Anime Music Videos for a little bit. Nicolette called so we met up with her again in the AMV room. She just got done with the AAA concert or exploding because of the AAA concert or whatever it was she was doing after the AAA concert.
Memory blank ;_;
We hung out with Nicolette until it was time for her to go back to her hotel. At that point me, Grilli, Brett, and Kevin all walked her to her hotel, making sure no EVIL PEOPLE tried to kill her. We dropped her off at her hotel and waved byebyes and went back to Otakon!!!!!!!!!!!!
We sat at the indoor waterfall thingy because that’s an awesome hangout spot. We just watched people walking by, took pictures of cosplayers, and talked about STUFF.
There wasn’t much left to do in terms of panels and the store and stuff since those things were either closed for the night or just not being interesting so we spent a couple hours just wandering, talking to random people and taking pictures of stuff.
I took a picture of these 3 random girls that were walking by as we were walking by them.
They seemed a little confused. As we stopped to take pictures of the cool security ladies one of the 3 girls ran back over to me and pulled out her camera phone and took a picture of me. Then she laughed and ran back to her friends.
We lol’d
There was some guy sitting in a seat that I sat in last year around the same time so I was like “HEY COOL GUY! NICE JOB COSPLAYING AS ME SITTING THERE LAST YEAR!” He was like “… what? … oh.. yeah!”
Thennnn I obsessed over a couple Grimmjow cosplayers.
Thennnnn we saw this kid with a target on his shirt so we ran over to him and took pictures of him. He was really confused but then he was like “HEY! DO YOU GUYS READ WEBCOMICS?!” We did everything BUT answered his question so eventually he looked kinda sad and walked away. Poor kid.
Thennnnnnnn it was time to leave for the night. We started out the door and I saw a girl cosplaying as Itachi so I took her picture then I was like “HEY! He wants a hug” and I pointed at Kevin since I realized he hadn’t had an Otakon hug yet. Kevin was confused and he was like “No I don’t..” Itachi girl looked sad/confused but kept her arms out for a hug and none of us hugged her. We’re horrible people ;_;
THEN WE SAW GUYS DRIVING THEIR CARS WHILE SITTING OUT THE WINDOW! WHOA!
When we got back to the hotel there was some cool lady in our elevator who kept asking the pizza guy if she could have a slice. Then she started talking about Seinfeld and stuff. But then she got off the elevator and we lost our friend. But we made up for it by talking to the awesome accented pizza guy.
That’s when we decided WE WANTED PIZZA. So as soon as we got back to our room we ordered pizza.
Then we watched Tim & Eric (awesome show)
And then ate pizza
And then went to sleep.
